It is very important to have a strong immune system especially in a time like now. These are some simple tips that you can add to your daily routine to help strengthen your immune system.

Avoid Processed Foods

Everyone knows processed foods are not good for your overall health. Processed foods and sugars increase inflammation, cancer, and auto-inflammatory disease. Studies have shown that spikes in sugar intake suppress your immune system, which makes you more likely to get sick.

Increase Your Fruit and Vegetable Intake

Fruits and vegetables are a very potent source of vitamins like vitamin C, beta-carotene, and vitamin E. Beta-carotene is a strong antioxidant that can boost your immune function and reduce inflammation. Vitamin C and E are antioxidants that help to destroy free radicals in the body.

Improve Your Gut Health

About 70% of cells that contribute to your immune system are found in your gut. If you have an unhealthy gut you are more prone to diseases. Your gut helps to break down food, absorb nutrients, and keeps toxins out. This is a lot of different roles that affect your entire body which is why it important to have a healthy gut.

Exercise Regularly

It is important to get outside and to be active every day to keep your immune system healthy. Exercise can help flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways which is especially important right now. You want to make sure that you do not overdo it if you are new to it. It does not have to be a crazy hard workout. Try going on a daily walk, a bike ride, or just get outside and a little workout.

Get Enough Sleep

Studies have shown that you are more prone to infections if you are sleeping less than 5–7 hours a night. Of course, a night here and there is not going to do it but overtime poor sleep patterns can lower your immune system.

Stay Hydrated

We all know water is one of the best things for us but it also plays a big role when it comes to your immune system. It is important to drink water throughout the day but especially when you first wake up because that is when your body is dehydrated from having no fluids through the night. Water helps to flush toxins in your body that can build up over time and have negative effects on your immune system.
